What actually matters

Four things decide whether a keyboard suits you. The rest is keycaps.

  • Switch type

    Hall-effect switches let you set how far a key travels before it fires. For games, that is the whole upgrade.

  • Size

    60% frees desk space for the mouse; 75% keeps arrow keys and a function row. Pick by how you use the desk, not the board.

  • Connection

    Wired boards have nothing to charge and no latency to think about. Wireless is convenience, not performance.

  • Software

    Good firmware means you set it once in a browser and never open it again. Bad firmware means an app running forever.
